7.00 (above average) Both the TV series and Flash very very good and fun to watch, however Flash does more for me with the performances of Rica Matsumoto and Mariko Kouda as Kei and Yuri, especially with 2 OP and ED songs each that both seiyuu sang that I enjoy listening to and different stories each Mission had, plus it Flash has character development for Kei and Yuri and they evolve throughout their series. Also Flash has more interesting episodes, especially for Missions 1-2 as there is actual overarching story arcs in both of them. The 3rd is really amazing too such as the ones with Kei protecting a baby from assassins and Yuri inspiring a young boy in what real relationships are like between two people. Plus, there was a balance in the dramatic and comedic in Flash. Unfortunately, the original sticks to the episodic style and doesn't compensate by having character development, the two standalone OVA's Nolandia and 005 are not that great, especially the former which was painful to watch, and the movie EDEN is a slight improvement, but nothing spectacular. I didn't like the shift in animation style from the TV series to the OVA's in the original, the OVA's was too cartoonish and I prefer the TV series designs better.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam

Last Updated: Aug 26, 2015

7.00 (above average) The pros that Zeta has is it shows both Char and Amuro at their best and it was great to see them fight side by side, Haman Karn coming into the picture gave the series the much needed boost midway into it (although I feel she should have been introduced much sooner though), the plot was much better than the original and things didn't feel as one-sided as it did with the AEUG vs. Titans conflict and given a new dimension when Haman's Neo-Zeon came into the picture, awesome performances by top-class seiyuu, and Paptimus Scirocco was an excellent antagonist and one of my favorites of the Gundam meta-verse. The cons were the continued use of female characters as cannon fodder and useless characters like Katz Kobayashi, Shinta, Qum, and Rosamia Badam hanging around and taking up time that could've been used for better characters. When it came to the initial domestic release of the series, it was disappointing that the OP & ED songs were not included and the dub being so lame, so my initial score is based only on the original Japanese dub.

Saiyuki Gaiden

Last Updated: Oct 18, 2012

7.00 (above average) A tearjerker OVA detailing Goku's time with the previous incarnations of his comrades up in the heavens, a good tie-in to the first Saiyuki series as it goes into the final days Goku has up in the heavens with Konzen, Kenren, and Tenpou as the four are deemed as rebels and criminals. However, I think it could've been made as a movie and animated by Pierrot, as well as have better music, plus remake the beginning story of Goku's life in the heavens as the TV series version of those events included anime-only characters Homura, Zenon, and Shien. I'm happy that Sentai is dubbing it with the original voice cast and I hope they consider re-dubbing Reload and Gunlock.

7.00 (above average) I only watched the anime that had Lina paired with Naga, I thought they were a really great pair together. I'm not fond of the TV series that much, I thought Gourry was not that interesting and lacked the colorful nature Naga has. What I liked more about the Lina/Naga partnership is that there's also a rivalry between them that adds another dimension to their interesting chemistry. I would watch the TV series if Naga was in it.

7.00 (above average) A decent adaptation to watch to see Subaru Sumeragi and Seishiro Sakurazuka's relationship before the events of X. Seiyuu Kappei Yamaguchi, Takehito Koyasu, and Miki Itou did a wonderful job voicing Subaru, Seishirou, and Hokuto respectively.

7.00 (above average) Truly a wonderful series by the animation studio, Production IG. I loved the mysterious intrigue of the series and how all the pieces of the puzzle came together by the time the climax of the series came about. I was quite surprised in some parts, especially near the end. I saw the series in the English dub, and the roles were casted well and the voice acting was brilliant, especially David Matranga's performance as D'Eon de Beaumont. Although I wasn't fond of the supernatural stuff in this series and it did take too much liberties concerning the historical figure Maximilien Robespierre in this fictionalized take on pre-French Revolution events that didn't make sense to me.

Tekkaman Blade

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 16, 2013

7.00 (above average) A must see for any fan of sci-fi mecha anime, both Tekkaman Blade and TBII are excellent series with compelling stories. The first series follows the emotional journey of a young man named Takaya Aiba nicknamed D-Boy by love interest Aki as he must battle against his family and friends as they have been assimilated by the alien race, the Radam and II follows up with the leads, D-Boy and Aki as they lead a new generation of Space Knights against a new threat. I liked both the TV series and sequel OVA equally, and it's a shame that the OVA series is treated with such disdain by fans, for I think animation-wise it was better than original because it used Hirotoshi Sano's designs and it was more adult-oriented. The flaws I see in the original series is the redundant re-cap episodes; which are one too many of, inconsistent animation direction, useless filler episodes here and there, and that horrible Levin character...so annoying and unnecessary...his role as engineer is better served by Honda, so I think the series would've been better without Levin, TBII's Dead End was a much better effeminate character for the series and much better looking. I think the TV series would've been more solid at 39 episodes IMHO.

Megazone 23

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Nov 09, 2015

7.00 (above average) Part I is my favorite one of the trilogy with it's amazing story, brilliant character designs by Toshiki Hirano and Haruhiko Mikoto that worked out nicely because their styles are similar and Hirano worked as an animation director for Macross and did fantastic work in the episodes he did that complimented Mikimoto's designs, alongside Narumi Kakinouchi who was an animation director for Megazone 23 Part I and Macross. The songs are truly fun to listen to and it's sad that Kumi Miyasato didn't become famous like Mari Iijima did, Miyasato has a great voice and puts forth a lot of emotion and passion into her songs she did. I was disappointed that Hirano didn't do Part II because in all honesty the design work was terrible, the only thing that Yasuomi Umetsu excelled at was Shogo and Yui's sex scene, Umetsu didn't really shine for me as an artist until Kite. It's up to your personal feelings if you want to see Part III considering it's the least liked of the trilogy.

To Heart

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 01, 2013

7.00 (above average) It's an alright adaptation of the VN, but not as good as those that adapt Key/VisualArt's series...ToHeart would've done better if a studio like KyoAni adapted it, since I feel they do a great job in adapting VN's. Otherwise, this series tells a heartwarming story of the devotion that the characters have to each other; be it close family, friends, and/or the relationships that are romantic in nature. Like Kanon, the To Heart series also tells the close bond of two childhood friends that become romantic, however in the second series there are bumps in the road that test the love between Hiroyuki and Akari. I'm glad that Ayaka Kurusugawa has more of a role in the 2nd season, she's quite an interesting character for an oujo-sama and Junko Iwao shines in the role, it's a shame she's not in more VN's...she's truly talented in every way possible. I feel a better seiyuu could've voiced Hiroyuki though, his voice was too raspy-sounding. Someone like Akira Ishida would've been better in the role.

7.00 (above average) I watched this series at an anime club I went to and a friend of mine brought this series he owned to watch and from watching it, Spiral was a cool anime to watch and the plot of the series was truly mysterious and compelling. The characters were well written and each of them had a special quality, especially Eyes...he's such a gorgeous character and he is my favorite of the series. The only things I didn't care for were the OP & ED songs and also Rio, I found her character annoying.

7.00 (above average) Pretty fun series which I enjoyed very much, Ryo Saeba has his moments of his mokkori mania (thinking about sex), but he can be serious and does what he can for his clients who are in need of his asssistance. Kaori, his tsundere assistant does what she can to keep Ryo in line, even if she tends to whack him a lot with that heavy hammer. All in all, City Hunter does well in blending in drama and comedy, but the series is episodic in nature, but it's handled pretty good. Ryo is definitely one of the sexiest male characters of all time in my book.

7.00 (above average) X/1999 Movie gets a 5 and the TV series gets a 9. The movie is a dull adaptation of the series although I did like Junko Iwao's Kotori, Ken Narita's Fuuma, and Tomokazu Seki's Kamui in their respective performances. The TV series allowed for the characters to be developed before we go into the confrontation of the Dragons of Heaven vs. the Dragons of Earth. So to get the best experience of X/1999, watch the TV series.

Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon

Last Updated: Jul 19, 2016

7.00 (above average) Seeing all the Senshi together in the beginning of the Stars season was a real treat and how great an ensemble they are with their strong camaraderie, it made me cry at such a beautiful bond the girls have for one another. It made me realize that they are amazing role models for all as they fight in what they believe in most and cherish the relationships they have with those around them. My Top 5 Favorite Senshi include; Mars (Rei), Neptune (Michiru), Uranus (Haruka), Saturn (Hotaru), Venus (Minako). Usagi shows her strength as the series progresses and I love how she evolves as a character. Also, I prefer the charm that was given in the original 90's anime with certain filler episodes peppered in to shine the spotlight on other Senshi, they don't get that in Crystal and I don't really care for Crystal's character designs. The only filler arc I dislike from the original anime is the one that is shown at the beginning of the R season. The antagonists I dislike the most are the siblings from the filler arc in R and Black Lady, I dislike Black Lady because she's just a mere product of brainwashing over something so cliche.

Cutey Honey

Last Updated: Jul 02, 2014

7.00 (above average) I only care for the New Cutey Honey and the original 70's TV series, I don't care for Flash and Re:. What I love about the original is the nostalgia value as a great piece of old-school anime, despite the villain-of-the week plot that the original has, I can see where the actual plot is going as the Panther Claw organization is out to destroy Honey and those she's closest to. No matter how strong Honey is, the people around her get hurt or even killed (midway during the original, someone close to Honey gets killed) and Honey's battle against the Panther Claw is a hard one. The one thing about the original that disappointed me was the ending and the animation direction could've been more consistent. With New, I love the more mature aspect of it with the hard ecchi situations and violence and the OP theme of the first half of the OVA is badass, although I think the OP of the second half is skippable. Honey's bond with Chokkei is really sweet and endearing. It's a shame that NCH didn't have more episodes made.

7.00 (above average) Pretty good action oriented anime series, it reminded me of Black Lagoon in a lot of ways, with the character of Alphard being sort of like Revy. Series has some shoujo-ai overtones with Canaan and Maria, but it was well played and very sweet.

7.00 (above average) Pretty good anime adaptation of Marvel's iconic iron-clad protagonist, however this series goes into sensitive issues, such as one character's xenophobic views. So please use descretion if topics like this don't sit well with you. Tony Stark's romance with Dr. Chika Tanaka was pretty sweet though.

Yosuga no Sora

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Jun 09, 2016

7.00 (above average) This series was adapted quite well to be honest in taking the story from different points of view in the arcs with four of the heroines, something that is rarely done for anime adaptations of VN's and the four heroines chosen has their own romance story with Haruka. Episode 1-2 act as the base that branch out the story that takes a different perspective in the episodes that follow; 1-4 (Kazuha), 1-2/5-6 (Akira), 1/7-9 (Nao), and 1, 7, 10-12 (Sora). Motoka's arc is told in the minisodes after every episode which is a pretty good way to unwind from the drama as they have a feel good nature to them. The best girls in this series for me are Kazuha, Akira, and Motoka because I feel in each of their romances with Haruka, each of them give him an endearing relationship and are worth rooting for. The sex scenes didn't bother me at all as I've grown accustomed to it since watching the entire classic Cream Lemon hentai franchise and the episodes centered on Ami Nonomura set the tone of incest for future media. I endear more to Ami of Cream Lemon than Sora in this series because Ami has a sweeter personality and Ami had to endure hardships in life due to the consequence of what happened between she and her beloved brother Hiroshi after they were caught by their mother. Regardless of family being around or not, there was never any type of consequence to befall Haruka and Sora as it had with Hiroshi and Ami of Cream Lemon.

7.00 (above average) One of the good moe series I liked with good characters and just the right amount of fanservice (not too much to overwhelm), the characters of Akari and Hikari are cute and loveable. One thing I wished that this series did was make it longer to flesh out the characters better, like 24 eps. and if a certain imouto didn't interfere with her ni-san's close bond to Akari. VA Jessica Boone was quite adorable as Akari, but I wish another VA played Hikari, I didn't like Cynthia Martinez' performance.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san

Last Updated: Jun 09, 2015

7.00 (above average) This series is quite cool, fun, and I'm loved every moment of it, especially the dynamic between Kuuko-Nyaruko-Mahiro-Hasuta. Rie Kugimiya sounds so kawaii in her role as moe-shota Hatsur, a quite different role for someone usually type-cast as a tsundere. Speaking of playing against type, it looks like the role of Luhy Jistone is quite a unique role for Mariko Kouda. All the references it had to other series was also a treat. I gave this a good score because I didn't take it seriously and just had fun with it. The second season was alright, I wish Luhy had more screen-time though, but Kuuko having feelings for Mahiro was an interesting plot twist, and I seem to ship the two of them as a couple. I suspect that Luhy maybe a shota-con for Hasuta though. I don't like that Luhy wasn't included in the new OVA...it feels she is the most short-changed character in the show with so little screentime.

7.00 (above average) Quite the mind-f**k anime, but it's done quite brilliantly, especially with the various twists and turns throughout the anime. The only complaint I have is the drab animation created by BONES, it would've been amazing if Madhouse did the series having character designs similar to Death Note.

Shamanic Princess

Last Updated: Sep 23, 2013

7.00 (above average) Like Haruhi Suzumiya, episodes are shown out of chronological order, and the actual beginning starts at episodes 5-6 then the events of the first four episodes come after. This OVA is quite a fun one with the fantasy and magic elements and Tiara makes for a cute and gorgeous heroine, like so many other cutesy 90's shows, I would consider this one that also predates any of the modern moe shows with the character designs. Character designer Atsuko Ishida definitely makes her characters look like something from CLAMP. What surprised me the most is the performance of the late Sayuri as Tiara (whom is well-known for portraying Lady Une in Gundam Wing and Suzuka in Outlaw Star) and I must say she was a versatile seiyuu, it's a shame she wasn't in many anime and had the opportunity in playing lead roles because she was one of the best. However, I wish that the series had been at least 12 episodes to flesh out the characters better, especially the short-lived Graham.

Little Busters

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Nov 09, 2017

7.00 (above average) A much better non-KyoAni adaptation of a Key title over Angel Beats! hands down and LB! has better characters and story overall. However, the dub cast is horrible and full of miscast roles, so just stick to the Japanese language version. Rin Natsume is my favorite female character as she has the best character development. Yuiko Kurugaya is my second favorite female character of the series, she has an awesome character design and personality. The only arc I hated was Kud's, hers was forced melodrama (Kud is too overrated a character anyway and I find her annoying). Kengo surprised me the most in his character development for the male characters and Riki was great too in his development. Overall, I enjoyed the series' strong message of friendship and how the Little Busters formed a familial bond with each other. EX is really good and I love Saya's character, her character has a really cool storyline and she's really cute. The romance between Saya and Riki was so sweet. I wish the EX series was longer though and that Sasami and Kanata had a couple more episodes for each of them to equal what Saya received. I don't care about Kud Wafter though and won't watch that one.

7.00 (above average) A pretty good fantasy story about forbidden and tragic love between two couples and a nice compliment to Genmu Senki Leda, designed by the same manga-ka and created by the same studio, Mushi Productions. The seiyuu work is really good as well with fine performances done by Kazuhiko Inoue, Naoko Matsui, Toru Furuya, and Waka Kanda who voice the leads respectively. It would've been better if it had a longer story to flesh out the plot and characters.

Last Updated: Feb 04, 2017

7.00 (above average) I enjoyed this series very much and the romance between the characters, especially Judas and Shin is really sweet. The voice acting is superb and well cast. I recommend this series for any fan of fantasy and shounen-ai. The characters are really likeable except for Shiva, I don't like how he acts towards Shin and thinks he's the only one who deserves Judas. The bond between the brothers Kira and Maya is really cute and seiyuu Tomokazu Sugita is awesome as Kira, his character and performance is almost like Genjo Sanzo of Saiyuki. Gai is the cutest and most likeable of the characters with his fox-like charms, he has quite the amazing character design with the fox-like features he has. Judas is definitely the most complex as a tragic hero to villain alongside Luca. The 2007 anime series and OVA were really good and enjoyable. The 2003 series was underwhelming and didn't really accomplish much in showing the conflict of the four Saint Beasts and their two former allies. If you do see this series, watch the OVA and the 2007 series first to understand the 2003 anime, but I feel the OVA and 2007 series stand well on their own.

7.00 (above average) Pretty funny parody series of the various Type-Moon works, mostly for Fate/stay night and Tsukihime. It's one of those guilty pleasures you can have fun with and see the characters engaged in comedic situations. I felt bad for poor Lancer all the times he's been offed and being manhandled by Berserker in one episode. That Grail-kun reminded me too much of Madoka's Kyubey, it's scary. I wished they used the Fate/Zero & Kara no Kyoukai characters more rather than just the minor cameos at the end. Seeing how a crossover parody like this could work, it would be nice to see something like this done for Key's works of Kanon, Air, Clannad, and Little Busters!, it would be fun to see crossover parodies done for these series.

7.00 (above average) Pretty good urban thriller series, I only wish they had formatted it as a TV series to follow the story chronologically, having the series run in a half-hour episode format, and given 24-26 episodes though. The fifth movie exceeded Evangelion in the mind-fuck department for sure, and the pacing felt rather weak for that episode. Shiki is a pretty interesting and multi-dimensional heroine and Mikiya is a good male protagonist, and I like his kind and mature personality. The two of them are a really good couple and I like the dynamic of their relationship. Maaya Sakamoto and Kenichi Suzumura did a fantastic job in this series and the roles they played are my favorites they have done. Overall, the animation is truly beautiful as expected from ufotable and alongside Fate/Zero, I love their excellent quality they have in their work. This is a very original series in terms of modern anime and I recommend it very much.

7.00 (above average) I'm only recognizing the first two series...the first will always be the best one with it's compelling story and fantastic characters. New Century/Zero was quite good too in it's own right as a tournament based series. These were another part of my gateway anime shows that I've watched and I'd say that I still have positive feelings for it when I look back on it now. I think at least the first Zoids series should be put back on Toonami and possibly re-dubbed with the original voices and shown un-edited to show new audiences why the old Toonami block was awesome compared to the new one.

Dream Hunter REM

Last Updated: Mar 08, 2018

7.00 (above average) A plus for this series is for presenting the cute heroine, Rem Ayanokouji as a strong, independent girl who does what she can to get herself out of a jam rather than have the male character save her like anime shows do most of the time. I also like that she has innocent charms that aren't bogged down by making her some sex object for perverse otaku's like they do in modern anime, even though her battle outfit is the skimpy bikini battle armor that was a popular fanservice tool for 80's-90's anime. Although the actual pilot was a hentai, it was better to make this a mainstream series. However, I think the animation production could've been done by a better studio, like AIC or Animate Film who I think do a good job in making old school moe anime. Another minus is that the romance is practically nonexistent between Rem and her paramours and rather redundant. I would recommend this series to those who can stomach cute, moe characters like Rem who at times ends up in violent situations when attacked by her adversaries. Dream Hunter Rem's is my favorite Rem.

7.00 (above average) For Gainax's first anime, it's a beautiful visual achievement in the background detail for an 80's feature movie and the brilliant music score by Ryuichi Sakamoto is another key feature that showcases how spectacular The Wings of Honneamise is. It's also a quite unique story in the overall setting as it tells the journey of Shirotsugu in his people's quest to the stars as the first man in space with the encouragement of the people he is closest to in his life, such as his comrade Matti and lady love, Riquinni. The conflict in the story is between the opposing nation on Shirotsugu's world referred to as the Republic who attempt to sabotage the launch and provoke the Kingdom of Honneamise into a full blown war and Shirotsugu is determined to make this launch into space a success. It's a great film to see as it has a great message within that no matter what obstacles and hardships may come, to never give up and reach for your goals. In that respect, I see Honneamise as an inspirational movie. The only flaw I see in this movie is that scene where Shirotsugu forces himself on Riquinni, that scene was rather distasteful and takes away from Shirotsugu's character development.

I love the songs by Mashiro Ayano and ASCA, they're really amazing and enjoyable to listen to.

7.00 (above average) Pretty good, I like how it has a story to it despite its' length for each episode as most formatted like this tend to have random stuff going on that feel episodic, but I don't like the recaps and are skippable. Still, I think this would be more enjoyable as a 12-episode series with the standard episode format. The new character of Momo is really cute and I like her character very much, she's a lot better than Tokyo's Sakuya and I like that Momo's bond with Tenchi is at a platonic level rather than forcing a romance between them. At first I wasn't going to see this series if it didn't have the original Tenchi girls in it, but was glad that they were going to appear and voiced by their original seiyuu with the exception of Ayeka's original seiyuu now voiced by Haruhi (Terada) Nanao who is doing a great job with the role since taking over from Yumi Takada. So with that, I decided to watch it and the original seiyuu still shine in their respective roles after all these years. A shame that Sailor Moon Crystal didn't do the same with having as much of the seiyuu of the original anime series return. Overall this was an enjoyable series to watch, I hope that it inspires more Tenchi anime to be made. When it comes to harem shows, Tenchi is the best.

Sengoku Musou

7.00 (above average) Truly an engaging series, it's so much better than that awful Sengoku Basara series, what Musou has going for it is it's faithful to historical accuracy, a better depiction of Sanada Yukimura and Tokugawa Ieyasu, and no stupid, cheesy gung-ho shounen antics like in Basara. At times it drifted off into that territory, but not as bad like Basara. I love Ina-hime, she's such an alluring beauty and her voice actress has such a nice and lovely voice, she kind of looks like Outlaw Star's Suzuka in a way. I also love the use of traditional Japanese instruments for the BGM. The voice work is excellent, especially between Daisuke Ono and Takeshi Kusao for the Sanada brothers. It got sad in certain parts such as what happened after the battle of Sekigahara for Yukimura and how it affected Nobuyuki and the later separation between the two when they bid farewell to their bond as brothers. Otherwise, it's sad that this is rather an underrated series with no anime artwork from magazines promoting it featuring the female characters. The ending was really sad concerning Yukimura and how he stayed true to the warrior he was right until the very end. I truly hope there will be another season of this series that focuses either on Oda Nobunaga or Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro.

7.00 (above average) The protagonists Miyuki and Natsumi are one of the best female anime duos I've seen as they work so well together as partners, both of them are courageous young women with strong hearts who fight for what they believe in and have an admirable sense of justice as police officers. They also have likeable personalities that they would be easy to get along with in real life. The 1st OVA was quite enjoyable to watch and it has good quality animation. The 1st TV series is average at best, the quality is rather lacking in the animation and I feel 26 episodes would've been fine. Also, the episodes with that Chie woman are the worst parts of the 1st TV series, she's an annoying character and I feel the series would be better off without her. I enjoyed the movie very much as it's a plot driven crime drama and the storyline it had was engaging with the tense scenes it had and the action sequences. It also has fantastic animation on all fronts with character artwork and setting detail.

Patlabor: The Mobile Police

7.00 (above average) The Patlabor series is a good change of pace for mecha anime aand it feels more grounded where the timeline of the story takes place. My favorite character in Patlabor is definitely Kanuka, she's amazing and quite the badass. I think episodes 5-6 of the 1st OVA should've been shown last as Ep. 7 felt too random to be a good concluding episode. As far as the two movies are concerned, I feel the 1st was a bit better than the 2nd in terms of story and action, as well as being a fine example of a cautionary tale of the advancements of technology and the struggle of man vs. machine. The 2nd is good in its' own right as a political thriller, but the final battle scene wasn't as exciting as the one from the 1st and was rather vague in Nagumo's story with Tsuge in regards to their past relationship. The TV series is a fun watch to see the characters more fleshed out. That bratty pilot of the Griffon was annoying and it would've been nice if there were some episodes with Kanuka in New York to break the monotony of the random episodes with Noa and the gang in the last quarter of the TV series. Ep. 44 wasn't enough in regards to Kanuka's appearance in the last quarter. The OVA follow-up is a mixed bag with some good episodes and some that are completely useless, overall a disappointment.

7.00 (above average) Yes! it's fantastic a remake of the visual novel is coming out this summer and certainly it's great to see Tsukihime get the much needed love it deserves! The opening ufotable did featuring ReoNa's song is beautifully made and the updated character designs are gorgeous. The new voices for the characters are excellent choices.

I really hope that an anime for Tsukihime will be given the green light some time after the release of the VN remake and have the anime come by next year.
