7.00 (above average) An anime worth checking out for those who seek to see something that has an adult cast of characters as well as something sophisticated to experience in expanding your horizons. Ryuu Sasakura is an outstanding gentleman who is rather wise beyond his years in his interactions with guests and carries a charismatic grace in his character...which are rare traits in leading male anime characters these days. Despite the series carrying an episodic tone to them, the episodes allow you to connect to each of Ryuu's guests depending on whom you relate to the most. I think the drawback for me is that the character animation could've been better though in some areas, some of the episodes felt rather dull like the one with the con-man, and it would've been nice to see some romance though for Ryuu and the main girl. Otherwise it is an alright anime to see.

7.00 (above average) This was a pretty engaging anime and I liked the overall atmosphere of the series with its' variety of characters. I liked the three main characters, they were interesting and had qualities in each of them that makes them worth investing in. Gangsta has a great seiyuu cast, Junichi Suwabe is charming and sexy as Worick and Kenjiro Tsuda (adult) and Natsuki Hanae (teen) in their portrayals as the deaf Nicolas. I loved Alex' song she sang at the Bastard nightclub, Mamiko Noto has such a beautiful singing voice. Alex herself is beautifully made with her curvaceous body and full lips, she's certainly has greater sex appeal than those in lame ecchi harem shows. It's a shame that the animation production studio that made Gangsta is defunct, seeing how there was an open ending and various plot threads relating to the characters were left hanging that would have been resolved with a second season. It would be nice if another anime company would consider making a second season for Gangsta, but I'm not going to set my hopes too high on it happening and read the source material to find out what happens next.

7.00 (above average) Really interesting series and I like the concept of it; the characters are also interesting and have a diverse range of personalities. The MC is a pretty decent guy even though he gets caught in ecchi situations, Takahiro shows that he is character with a good head on his shoulders and not some lame douche-bag with hormones for brains. He's also quite a handsome young man with strong character traits that I can see why the girls are so fond of him, although he could've been more decisive in regards to whom to be a bergleiter to sooner. The artwork is really beautiful and the character designs are splendid, each suit the character. I do think that there needed to be a romance between one of the girls (w/Mio as I think she suits him) plus the last episode fell short of being a fantastic finish and was rushed, I think one more episode could've made it a better ending, and also the outcome was rather predictable. Overall as who I would choose as my top 3 best girls of this series they would be Noel, Mio, and Ayako...I only wish Ayako had more screen-time though. Despite its' flaws it was a good anime and I had a tear in my eye when Noel, Mirielle, and their father shared a tender hug and that he was proud of Noel.

7.00 (above average) I'm going to take the objective approach with this movie and say it did a good job depicting the struggles of the common man during late World War II Japan and that life was harsh for civilians who had to ration out food and were forced to sell precious items to eat. From a subjective view, I understood the aunt's POV of what she and her own family had to do to survive and was frustrated that Seita wasn't pulling his own weight to contribute and at the same time provide for Setsuko. However, the aunt wasn't in the right either by treating Seita and Setsuko the way she did that led to the tragic circumstances the siblings ended up in. In the end, I concluded both Seita and the aunt were flawed characters in how they were portrayed and that the movie teaches an important lesson in how personal pride can have major consequences. The emotional impact was lessened for me as the start of the film shows what happens to Seita and what his fate would be as the film progressed. Otherwise, this is a movie I think I can only watch once.

7.00 (above average) The first half of the series is rather slow in regards to the pacing, but the second half of the series is where it gets better and I was rather surprised about Sophia being royalty. One other issue I have is the animation direction, it seems to be disjointed where at certain episodes the quality looks good, but at other times it looks bad, mere background characters looking static, facial expressions looking plain and not detailed in areas, and the color scheme looks rather drab in areas. So pretty much I feel this has not aged well. The ED song is pretty good and fits the tone of the anime, but I don't really like the OP song...something like a Maaya Sakamoto or Akino Arai song would've been a better choice for an opener. At times I get Turn A Gundam vibes from this series especially since the heroine of Last Exile, Lavie reminds me a little bit of one of Turn A's heroines, Sochie Heim. My overall feelings about it is that it's a good series with amazing characters, Claus and Lavie's relationship is endearing even though it's not a romantic one, but the climax felt rather underwhelming.

7.00 (above average) Truly a charming piece of anime with such an endearing heroine in Touko Amano, she truly has a good and gracious heart. I love how she was able to reach out to the troubled Miu Asakura and help her come out of the darkness that had taken over her heart. Touko is a positive presence and I'm happy that Inoue came to fall in love with her, they have a heartwarming chemistry and are a sweet couple. The OVA series was okay, the only episodes I cared about was the ones centered on Touko and Miu. I really didn't care for the one centered on Kotobuki.

7.00 (above average) A sweet little fantasy movie that is something parents who are still anime fans can show their children, sure it is rather slow-paced but it does show a positive message of the close friendship of Giovanni and Campanella in how much they treasure one another. There is no speck of violence in this movie and has a heartwarming feeling to it, although the climax of the movie is rather bittersweet that may make some feel sad.

7.00 (above average) I like the production values that Production I.G. gave this series with the detailed animation and the music score was excellent. This series had an impressive voice cast for the principal characters and I liked Kenyuu Horiuchi's performance as Lt. Col Yuuki. The OP & ED songs are amazing that is another ingredient that sells the series. Joker Game also has pretty good intrigue as well in its' scenario.

Interlude

Last Updated: Jul 07, 2016

7.00 (above average) This series surprised me in its' originality and Toei did quite a good job in animating Interlude, sure it may feel confusing in some areas but essentially it's about the characters existing in a purgatory-like setting. It's head-stratching that the MC is nameless while his older brother is given a name, so for the hell of it I'll call the MC Fuyuki-kun. His bond that he forges with Aya is quite endearing and I think they make a cute couple and I'd also ship the busty office lady chick Marufuji and Sugiura. The animation is really good for the time of its' release and the voice acting of the seiyuu cast is quite amazing. Aya is an amazing heroine and definitely the best girl of the series, she's a strong young lady.

Dominion Tank Police

Last Updated: Jul 21, 2016

7.00 (above average) Pretty fun series, it's kind of like the rowdy cousin of Patlabor with the wild bunch of characters and the lead heroine, Leona Ozaki is very much like Noa Izumi with the fiery attitude and strong love for her tank Bonaparte akin to how Noa feels towards her Labor, Alphonse. I pretty much get why Leona's character design changed in the 1993 OVA to try to make one thing about her different from Noa as the 1988 OVA version of Leona looks so much like Patlabor's heroine. I like Brenten, his gung-ho nature is what makes him such and interesting and fun character. Annapuma and Unipuma are quite fun with their antics and pretty good foils for Leona. I enjoyed the 1993 OVA more because I feel it's the one that had aged better, I like the plot in this one the best, characters like the Chief and Megane have an active role, and has awesome OP & ED songs. One negative issue I have with the 1993 OVA is that Anna and Uni don't have that bad girl allure like how they were designed in the 1988 OVA. Both Hiromi Tsuru and Rei Sakuma were amazing as Leona of the 1988 and 1993 OVA's respectively and each did well in the role. It would be amazing if this series received a reboot, just as long as it maintains its gritty feel and hard edge.

7.00 (above average) Now this a movie young children can watch that has no adult humor peppered in that parents would understand, no violence, nor is a movie with complicated subject matter. Overall Totoro is innocent family entertainment for the little ones. In my own personal ranking of this film by Miyazaki, I place it 5th behind Spirited Away (4th), The Wind Rises (3rd), Castle in the Sky (2nd), and Nausicaa (1st).

Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai

Last Updated: Oct 24, 2017

7.00 (above average) This wasn't too bad of a series, for an ecchi series this was more enjoyable than that stupid Hybrid x Heart series; for example Sin: Nanatsu no Taizai has a better story that gets more engaging later on, has nicely made animation in terms of character designs, having characters worth investing in, and great casting choices with seiyuu who have experience in doing ecchi anime projects like Eri Kitamura, Yoko Hikasa, Chiaki Takahashi, and Shizuka Ito. So, if you like shoujo-ai ecchi and want to see something that's not a lame harem, then this is a series to check out.

7.00 (above average) This was quite an interesting and engaging series, I liked that there were a variety of characters and the voice acting by the seiyuu cast was top notch. The second season was the best, notably because of the arc that plays in the beginning during the days when Osamu Dazai was in the Port Mafia and the story of his friendship with Sakunosuke Oda and the character development the second season has. I wasn't too fond of the OVA episode though, I rather would've had an episode centered on Kyouka Izumi after she became an official member of the Agency or one centered on Ranpo Edogawa, he was a fun character and Hiroshi Kamiya was great in the role. Mamoru Miyano's Osamu was a really amazing character too and how multilayered his personality is when he was being funny or serious. I absolutely love the songs in this series, mainly the ones used for the OP's, the intro animation themselves for the OP songs definitely made an impression on me in how they were made.

7.00 (above average) This series has a great concept in the fantasy mecha genre, an interesting plot, fantastic music by Yoko Kanno, great direction by Kazuki Akane, and a impressive performance by Maaya Sakamoto in her debut role. I love her song that's used for the opening. However I wasn't too fond of her character, Hitomi Kanzaki. The best character in the entire series was Folken, he was the one I connected with the most and prefer him over his younger brother Van and Allen Schezar. I watched the movie version long ago and thought it was okay and recently saw the TV series and thought the TV series was more engaging with its' story line. To be honest I felt the romance was weak between Van and Hitomi, it didn't help that Hitomi spent most of the series pursuing Allen. The series aged quite beautifully, from watching it in the remastered HD version.

7.00 (above average) Pretty good hentai series, it's like Devil Hunter Yohko in how the leads Ai and Mai Amatsu are demon slayers like Yohko and both share traits similar to Yohko such as Ai's badass strength and Mai's love of good-looking guys. This hentai does have a plot to it and a central antagonist for the twin sisters, it's also uncensored too if you prefer hentai like that.

7.00 (above average) The OVA was pretty good with a nice story of the five girls prior to their graduation before going on to the next step in their lives, it would've been better if this had been expanded another three episodes to equally give each of the girls their own episode. Of what was given, the individual focus was on Mami in the 1st episode and Reiko on the 2nd. The ending song hits on the feels and tugs at your emotions.

6.00 (average) A decent shout out to classic super robot anime with Go Nagai like hairstyles and hot blooded characters. Another series in similar vein, Martian Successor Nadesico as a shout out to classic 70's style anime was better. The feels get heavy in Eps. 44-45 and I can honestly say this was an anime that made me cry in those two episodes alone. The best characters in this series were Master Asia, Schwarz Bruder, and Kyoji Kasshu. I hate Prime Minister Wong, he's a one-dimensional antagonist who felt like the lame baddie you'd see in a Saturday morning cartoon and he was an annoying prick. I got more kicks out of Transformers' Starscream and He-Man's Skeletor than I ever did with Wong. The female cast of this series weren't that interesting and were bland characters who didn't really stand out to me. The ending fell flat with the cliche "power of love", was the Nakama Power not enough? I was never invested in Domon & Rain as a couple and they're one my least favorites in anime.

6.00 (average) Awesome follow-up to Mai HiME and I'm glad that one of my favorite characters Akane has more of a role in this series than she had in My-HiME. The relationship between Nina and Sergei and also what is shared between Arika and Sergei is not to my liking, as well as the 0: S.ifr prequel OVA it wasn't that interesting. A prequel OVA centered on Mai Tokiha would've been amazing though.

6.00 (average) I would've rated this a bit higher if the ending didn't fall flat and Angelo didn't really impress me all that much as the MC. The deuteragonist Nero was an amazing character and was by far the best of the series. Fango was a fun character with his vivacious personality and had colorful charms. I was disappointed that the special episode that was released recently was just random stories (they would've served better as mini specials) and not an epilogue to the series to give it better closure. The OP & ED songs were rather bland, I felt it could've used Yoko Kanno's touch as I feel her music would've been an amazing fit for this anime.

Last Updated: Sep 13, 2016

6.00 (average) Although this is pretty much an average anime from the get-go, it does have its funny moments such as Norio Wakamoto's performance was quite hilarious including parodying his character from Gunbuster in one episode when he's training the MC Isurugi for a ramen eating contest and even the MC's collection of anime-related merchandise acting as Easter eggs, such as his Evangelion poster in a background shot for example. The OP song is pretty good and nice to listen to at the beginning of each episode. If you like light-hearted 90's fare, then this anime is worth a watch if you want to get in a laugh or two, but just stick to the Japanese dub, it would've been nice if this had been dubbed by ADV's IS&M studio.

Silent Mobius

Last Updated: Jun 13, 2012

6.00 (average) Silent Mobius is a good anime to see if you're looking for a series with strong, young women who aren't sexualized in any way and treated like visual objects for fanservice-oriented otaku. The story runs along serious lines as one of the heroines of the series, Katsumi Liqueir is a young woman who is multi-faceted as she is faced with either being a powerful ally for her comrades, or their greatest enemy. Katsumi's power is sought by the Lucifer Hawk, the antagonists of the series and want her as their ally. The art of the two movies is incredibly beautiful for an early 90's production, but the story is fleshed out more in the TV series. The TV series could've been more faithful to the designs of the movies though as certain areas lacked consistancy.

Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYA

Last Updated: Mar 17, 2018

6.00 (average) The good things about this spinoff is that Illya has a much better life in this alternate universe series where she is in happy home life with family and has a great friend in Miyu. The movie offered me a new perspective of the series when it told Miyu's backstory of how she met her Shirou and how he wanted to give her happiness in which he fought tooth and nail for leading up to his wish that culminated into Miyu's fateful meeting with Illya and how she was able to lead a normal life in Illya's world, making new friends and going to school, up until the events of 3rei. I dislike the loli fanservice of the series, how annoying Luvia is when she belittles Rin, the annoying Kaleido Ruby and its' antics, the stupid filler episodes of 2wei Herz!, and the annoying antagonists of the Ainsworth family.

Last Updated: May 14, 2014

6.00 (average) Godai's neighbors sure lack in the maturity department and after seeing Kimagure Orange Road, junior high school characters Madoka Ayukawa and Kyosuke Kasuga show more maturity. My favorite girl of the series is Asuna Kujou, for she is sweet and kind, as well as Kozue Nanao and both deserved more screen time than they got. My final thoughts of the series is that while I still feel KOR is the better of the two, the ending leaves a satisfying finish, yet all the melodrama that came before wasn't necessary. Also there could've been a final resolution when it came to concluding things with Yagami as there had been for Mitaka and Kozue, although the latter could've been done better. The overall pacing was rather poor at times and relied on too many misunderstandings as a plot device. When it came to Rumiko Takahashi's works, I still enjoyed Ranma 1/2 the best. Overall, I was rather disappointed by MI after all the hype people give it.

6.00 (average) The series tells the story of childhood friends, Tatsuya and Kazuya Uesugi and Minami Asakura, and how their relationship forms into a love triangle when Kazuya falls in love with Minami, but Minami seems to be in love with Tatsuya, and Tatsuya is trying to sort out his own feelings for Minami and his twin brother's feelings for her. However, it's not that great as a romantic comedy as in later seasons, any romance felt a bit bland. As a sports anime, it's pretty good, but overall it's kind of meh, Minami is too much of a goody two shoes at times and Tatsuya often displays jerkass behavior, the only character worth caring for is Coach Kashiwaba, although he is extreme when you first see him, but later on it reveals his true character and how complex he is.

6.00 (average) The only things I liked about this series was Yuri Nakamura and Iwasawa, the latter had too little a role and I felt she should've been around longer than she was. Yuri is the best heroine of this series because I like her witty charm and her natural leadership qualities. She also has a fun personality and would be great to have as a friend with her outgoing nature. I was disappointed that Yuri wasn't paired with Otonashi, I felt they had better chemistry. I also don't see what's so great about Kanade Tachibana, I felt she was a rather bland character and didn't have anything compelling about her. Now that a VN is made for this series, I think an anime remake would be nice to see happen...just as long as it ends with Otonashi x Yuri as a couple.

Last Updated: Apr 18, 2015

6.00 (average) The series was quite good with a truly intriguing and mysterious story surrounding the principal cast(Mirielle, Kirika, Chloe, and Althena), while an enjoyable anime to watch, the violence felt watered down with the lack of bloodshed everytime a character killed someone, which would've made the series more realistic and given a higher score. So if you're looking for a violent girls with guns series, search elsewhere with a series like Black Lagoon with Revy and Eda action, but if you prefer story and character driven anime, then Noir is maybe your cup of tea. There are shoujo-ai themes to be aware of as well, so if you're not into that, then Noir is not for you.

6.00 (average) For a guilty pleasure series, it's an alright one, so be sure not to take it too seriously and expect a serious plot or anything. I like the character Eucliwood Hellscythe, she definitely shows that's she's not the emotionless girl type and does show her emotions when a troubling situation calls for it. For a modern anime piece, I like that it doesn't go overboard with the ecchi content like most anime of this period tend to be like, however the OVA and Season 2 tended to focus a bit much on the ecchi. Fumi Hirano's voice as Delusion Eu in the first OVA episode wasn't a good choice, she doesn't sound cute sounding anymore like she did when she played Lum, so another seiyuu pick would've been better, not just her but Yuko Minaguchi, Noriko Hidaka, and Sumi Shimamoto weren't good choices either. Seiyuu like Megumi Hayashibara, Aya Hirano, Junko Iwao, and Kana Ueda could've been used though to voice Delusion Eu, all the other seiyuu who did Delusion Eu were good choices.

6.00 (average) Visually, this OVA was top notch for an early 90's title and that's what I enjoyed about 0083 as well as the music. The characters are hard to invest in; that Fed womanizer was a real douchebag, yet Keith and Mora were likeable. Kelly Layzner should've been the actual protagonist, his character was more interesting than bland Kou Uraki. Kou and Nina are the worst Gundam couple IMO, they're such a poor match for each other considering Nina's WTF moment she has near the end of the series and even that element in the plot development made no sense. I really hated Nina by that point late in the series. Sunrise should've granted F91 the OVA series treatment that year, F91 had more going for it than 0083.

6.00 (average) The movie mystery and festival centered episodes were pretty good and quite lively with the inclusion of other characters, which was the good parts about this anime, otherwise the episodes after the movie mystery and festival arcs were rather dull and uniteresting. The characters of Satoshi and Mayaka are alright characters, not outstanding yet they were good overall. I wasn't too fond of Oreki and Chitanda, Oreki acted too much like a dullard and Chitanda's moe-ness didn't appeal to me as much as her elegant side did. I was more into the supporting characters, like Irisu and Togaito who I wish were leads themselves. Seiyuu work was okay, but I think the vocal/casting director tends to use the same seiyuu too much, it would be nice if he used different seiyuu that he rarely casts.

6.00 (average) For a shounen-ai/yaoi slice of life anime series, it's rather kawaii. The dynamic between Sora/Yoru x Sunao/Ran's relationship is quite unique, denying their feelings as themselves but being passionate with each other as their Yoru and Ran persona's and knowing who they are to each other as Sora and Sunao, they begin to embrace how they truly feel for each other. Their relationship is one I can be fond of as well as the relationships between Nanami x Shinichirou and Nagase x Gaku, the former being truly sweet and endearing and the latter being a case of opposites attract, but all of the couples having great chemistry. Matsuri is a pretty funny character, I love his outgoing personality and his "Jack of All Trades" club is interesting and fun. However, the anime could've used the main antagonist, Professor Aizawa more than the last two episodes he was in, the hotsprings episode was rather lame and character designs could've been better.

What I didn't like was when Kei came into the picture, man talk about a dull as hell character whose only purpose was to deepen A-ko and B-ko's rivalry more and both ignored poor C-ko, who was a good character with her child-like charms and innocence. C-ko may come off as annoying to some with her clingy nature and dependence on A-ko, perhaps she's still considered a child in her homeworld.

6.00 (average) It had potential as it needed more episodes to develop the characters and story better. For an ecchi anime centered at a school setting, it is a cool one because it's at a school where everyone is a delinquent in some form or another. Yuko Miyamura delivered a very delicious and spicy performance as the female lead, Aya Shirakaba, it's a shame she hasn't been in a lot of anime, because when it comes to ecchi shows, she is one seiyuu I want to see in the cast voicing a sexy character. One other flaw I see in it is those ugly twin sisters in the second half, they were annoying and unnecessary, took up screen-time, were bad characters, and the animation could've had a better quality for OVA's of the time.

6.00 (average) I prefer the Katsugeki series by ufotable more than Hanamaru because I like the structure of Katsugeki with the overall flow of the story, how the characters are animated, that it's engaging with the action and plot, having a limited amount of characters from the game makes it better to connect with them, the beautiful songs and music, and the overall direction of the series. Also, I like how there is the actual presence and interaction of the Touken Danshi's master Saniwa and loved the heartfelt story of the members of the second unit with their camaraderie, also the feelings of Izuminokami no Kanesada and Kunihiro Horikawa share for their former master Toshizo Hijikata and Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki for Ryoma Sakamoto and how they are challenged in terms of their loyalties to protecting the flow of history as how it happened in reality, their duties as Touken Danshi, to their desire to protect their respective former master. Hanamaru is just too random, mundane, and not enjoyable. The 2nd cour could've spent time with Yasusada when he was on his travels. Also, I dislike the character designs for the actual show.

What I liked about it was it actually had a plot for the hentai genre, the heroine Sawa was really well written in terms of her storyline and what she had to endure made me connect to her character, and Yasuomi Umetsu's character designs look more polished than his previous works in this OVA. I would recommend this hentai to fans of the genre. The sequel, Kite Liberator was quite bad and didn't have a good story to it like its' predecessor. It also left things in a cliffhanger as well. The animation was also lame, the original Kite looked much better.

6.00 (average) The TV series was too much of a trainwreck for me, it felt like much of the melodrama was forced and the story itself was like a badly written soap opera. I am not a fan of Mitsuki's route to be honest and she and Takayuki are a terrible couple, with all that happened I think it would've been better if they had gone their separate ways too. The friendship element is not strong in this series, which was another disappointing factor and it was taken for granted. The character designs by Yoko Kikuchi in the TV series was pretty and loved how Haruka and Akane looked, the two are my favorite characters of the series. I am more a fan of Akane's spinoff OVA, Akane Maniax as it was an enjoyable watch and Jouji was a cool male protagonist and I loved his personality, both he and Akane would've made a great couple. I think this series is in need of a remake with a faithful adaptation to Haruka's route, because I feel it is the best route of the series and incorporate more elements of Akane's route.

6.00 (average) It's an average series, I like Kannazuki no Miko much better as it's much more engaging. Kuu is a one-dimensional heroine, all she does is make herself a victim for no reason and there's no positive qualities to make up for her extremely flawed character. She pretty much embodies the typical doormat character archetype. Kannazuki's Himeko is much better than Kuu when it comes to the "pure-hearted heroine" character, at least Himeko has a backbone when it comes to coping with vexing situations and doesn't cry all the time. I also think Setsuna suits Kyoshiro more romantically, it's sad she's not his love interest. Setsuna is more interesting and has the best qualities to be the actual heroine and love interest for the MC, I feel sorry that she holds back her own feelings she has within her heart and see the person she loves give his love to that dullard Kuu. Sometimes I can't help but hate Kyoshiro for how he treated Setsuna like her feelings didn't matter. I hated and loved the ending at the same time...loved it for Kaon/Himiko and hated it because the best girl Setsuna wasn't the one who won the MC's heart. If it weren't for characters like Setsuna, Himiko, Kaon, and Sojiro, I would rate this anime much lower.

6.00 (average) In regards to the adaptation, it had potential...but the production team did not realize that potential. To me, it didn't do much in with character development - not like what The Five Star Stories anime film did which had a similar situation with a single movie made. However, the FSS movie allowed the time to develop the principal characters and it concluded with a fantastic finish. An extra fifteen minutes could've helped this movie for purposes of character development as well as story. Otherwise, the good things I can say about this movie adaptation is that the artwork is really well made for an early 90's production, the voice acting on the Japanese version is really good...especially Toshihiko Seki's Tieh, the music is also fantastic and fits the atmosphere of the world it's set in, and the three lead character's themselves are a fine trio and they work well together.

6.00 (average) It's disappointing when looking at this series as a whole as the first season was fantastic, but the second season and the movie turn out to be disappointing let-downs. The only good things I can say about the second season is that my favorite ship Allelujah and Soma were made an official couple and the character development showcased by Feldt. For the most part I felt the second season went into far too much character and story derailment that it severely lacked what made the first season so memorable. The movie is just a nonsensical mess and overall was a terrible closure to the series, the only thing I liked was that Saji and Louise's relationship was getting back on the right track after all the melodrama that happened back in the second season between them.

6.00 (average) It was an alright anime, sure it had actual physical relationships between the series' couples (George/Yukari & Arashi/Miwako); the things that I felt were needed to make it more solid was character development for Arashi and Miwako too as far as their story is concerned and needed more focus, most of it was centered on George and Yukari. At times I felt the SD sequences that were peppered in were unnecessary, it made the series feel juvenile for something meant to be a josei. Tokumori basically didn't have the development as a character he needed in the anime as the manga had given him. I wasn't fond of the actress' performance who voiced Yukari in the Japanese dub, her voice didn't suit the character and using an actress who is a seiyuu by trade could've done a better job.

6.00 (average) I found this anime pretty underwhelming compared to its' sister The Princess and the Pilot which was much better because the movie had excellent protagonists to invest in, also it had beautiful animation and an engaging story with the touching journey Charles and Fana embarked on. With this series, it was lacking especially with its' less than detailed character animation that's too simplistic for the year it was made and looked like something done in 2003 or 2004. It also didn't help that the anime ends in a cliffhanger and doesn't complete the journey of Kal's quest to get back his beloved and have their romantic reunion. A positive for this series is I felt Claire was a fine heroine, a kind and genuine person, and I was invested in her character. I'm neutral towards the MC, I wasn't too thrilled with his immaturity for most of the series yet am glad that he did improve near the end, fully embrace his love for Claire, and move forward by letting go of his hatred. This series had potential, but I felt it didn't and likely would have fared better with a studio like Production I.G. to bestow far richer animation with attention to detail and a refined director to fully realize its' potential.

6.00 (average) My impressions with this series are mixed and couldn't enjoy it very much. Tenzen is just the worst and I hate his character the most, his sins against Oboro and Kagero is one thing yet his stupid immortal no jutsu was the most annoying thing about him. I felt Koshiro was a disappointment in his character development in how he foolishly blamed Gennosuke for causing Oboro's pain and ignorant of the fact that it was all on Tenzen as the cause. On the Kouga side; the one I disliked on that side is Udono; he's a disgusting, crude womanizer, his ability is incredibly cartoonish and belongs in a shounen. I can understand the agony Oboro went through considering she's a gentle person, a pacifist by nature, and what Tenzen put her through. I'm glad she was able to find her resolve in her character development. The worst female character is Ofuku, I loathe her and she has nothing redeeming about her character. I hate the character design of Tokugawa Ieyasu, it's the worst animated depiction of him. The best character in this series for me is definitely Hyoma, he has the best head on his shoulders with his wisdom and level headed nature, plus he's a kind person. In other words, Hyoma's the best husbando material. Gennosuke and Oboro made a beautiful couple and what became of their dreams together is heartbreaking. I'm not interested in watching the sequel, it didn't need one IMO.
