6.00 (average) There were so many things involved in this series that I feel compacting it all in within the 12 episodes didn't allow the numerous elements to flow naturally and it would've if it had been a 24 episode series to give the series the story development that it needed. The chemistry between Maou and Yuusha was good and they looked cute together, but I feel it was hampered by the love triangle element and this is one series I wish didn't have it...especially if blocks progression of a relationship. Animation was rather simple and not detailed that much, if the animation production had been done either by Madhouse or Satelight for this series the details in the quality of the animation would look more refined. Maid Ane's development as a character was impressive and I think she was the character who had the best progression.

6.00 (average) This was a little better than the Iczer 3 OVA, it had potential but it felt like another two episodes could've been made to make the story feel more complete. The concept was pretty good with the battle mecha girl theme; which is quite rare for anime and I like how it connects with the previous Iczer series.

6.00 (average) This was quite a fun little OVA series and I felt it had a charm to it with the neat set of characters. Yuko Miyamura's performance as the android Marie was quite cute and she was a sweet and quirky character. It has a feel-good nature to it in the adventures of android Marie as she navigates through everyday life. Nobutoshi Canna was quite hilarious as Tanaka and Rica Matsumoto was cool as the sukeban Hibiki. The adaptation needed more episodes to flesh out the story and characters though.

6.00 (average) With the OVA made for this series I was disappointed with the lack of screen time for amazing characters like Dimitri and Morrigan who are interesting characters individually and have a great chemistry when they have a scene together. I would've liked it better if the OVA had them as the central focus. I wasn't too thrilled with much of the OVA focused on Donovan, his character didn't interest me nor did Pyron either. The animation was pretty well made as its' character designer was Shukou Murase, the man behind the amazing character designs for Gundam Wing. Rei Sakuma delivered a sexy performance as Morrigan, she did a great job voicing the character. The ED song was quite good as well, it had a fun beat to it and kind of felt like it would also fit the Bastard!! series as well.

Victorian Romance Emma

6.00 (average) The first season was good, but the second got too melodramatic for me that it felt too much like a soap opera. To be honest, I wasn't that invested in William and Emma as a couple as I tend to favor in terms of romances of the same vein of couples of differing social classes are those like Andre and Oscar of Rose of Versailles and Jack and Rose of Titanic. Also, I like that heroines such as Oscar and Rose have a strong-willed attitude and Emma lacked that strong will. I didn't like how the rejection of Eleanor by William was handled and made me dislike William considering how insensitive and disingenuous he was towards her. True that he was decisive on who he wanted to be with, but he should have never pursued anything with Eleanor because all it did was hurt her and that's why I don't like him. I sympathize with Eleanor because she was a sweet and gentle person and felt she deserved more dignity than what she got from William. Hans was a great character and preferred him over Hakim and William. There was great potential in Hans' character and was one thing I liked about S2. I wish Hans were in the first season though, to make things more challenging in giving William a solid rival. I also think there should've been a S3 that tells the story of Emma's life in the Jones' household; like how she was genuinely accepted by the patriarch & William's headstrong siblings Arthur & Vivian, William and Emma's marriage, and if Emma became friends with Eleanor which would be nice.

6.00 (average) In how I would rank this film in the Miyazaki films I have seen, this would be 5th place as I believe Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is the best of his works followed by Castle in the Sky, The Wind Rises, and Spirited Away. The standout characters in Princess Mononoke for me would be Ashitaka and Eboshi as far as their characterizations in the movie and how they develop. I wasn't that thrilled with San to be honest as her character development wasn't that strong, nor did she have the charm of Miyazaki heroines like Nausicaa, Sheeta, and Chihiro.

6.00 (average) The OVA series is quite fun to watch and had a good story, the TV series was underwhelming though. The only good characters in the primary cast are the three main girls, Akane being my best girl, Junko Iwao was so cute as her. I hate the male leads, Takakura is lame with no outstanding attributes and Aburatsubo is irritating when he prefers Takakura over Nanaka. WTF Aburatsubo!, Nanaka is much cuter than Takakura. The only male character I like from the series is Mitsuru Minowa the journalist in the OVA, I wish he appeared in the TV series too. I like the OP & ED songs from the OVA, but I didn't like the ones of the TV series.

6.00 (average) This series had potential, but I felt it wasn't realized with the lack of developing the characters and story better that leave the viewer to question on what's going on. Otherwise it was original with the content and Mamoru Miyano and Jouji Nakata did well with their respective character roles. I hate the OP song, it's horrible. The songs should've been performed by the group Onmyou-za who did Basilisk's OP song; their style would've been a great fit for this series.

6.00 (average) It's an alright anime, but not a masterpiece like most make it out to be. I would've enjoyed it more if it incorporated iyashikei elements into the series or episodes like Ep. 5 that had a feel good quality to them. With the episodic ones not centered on the main plot, the fifth episode with Princess Charlotte was the best one because it was the most heartwarming and gave Violet a purpose to give happiness to someone, plus their interactions with one another was the most engaging of all Violet's clients. I disliked the 10th episode because it was emotionally manipulative. Also I feel that the members of the CH Postal Company didn't have much dedicated to them, they were just there to support Violet. For example, it would've been nice to see an episode centered on Cattleya and Claudia that tells the story of their relationship. Benedict didn't have much characterization in the series. Series like Cowboy Bebop, Sakamichi no Apollon, and Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu are still the best anime drama series to me because they offer better characterization and the emotional scenes feel more naturally drawn out.

6.00 (average) The plot and the feels between Etoh and Marlene was what I liked about this anime. It has a bittersweet ending though, especially for best girl Marlene. The sex scenes Etoh has with other women before Marlene are meaningless and irrelevant, especially with that dumb random chick in the third episode that comes out of nowhere and had just met the guy. The one girl who should've had a sex scene in the third episode with Etoh was the other female lead Natasha as there was chemistry between them as well. I Pretty much the only sex scene that really mattered was the one with Marlene. This really doesn't work well as a hentai as it is rather underwhelming and works better as a mature R+ anime.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

5.00 (moderate) The only good thing I can say about this series was that Rau Le Creuset was an interesting antagonist and far better than G-Gundam's Wong, Gundam X's Frost Brothers, and Gundam 00's Ribbons. Although Flay is a step above over of horrible Gundam characters like CCA's Quess and 00's Nena, I still disliked Flay because of her negative actions towards Kira, Lacus, and Sai. I felt sorry for Sai, he deserved a better girlfriend. The romance element was badly done in this series and the worst pairing is between Kira x Flay as it was an unhealthy relationship. 'm not a fan of the ecchi elements used in the OP's, it's just a cheap baiting tactic.

Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta

5.00 (moderate) For those who have experienced watching the tragedies that unfolded in Zeta Gundam, this series will perk you up with a more positive-thinking protagonist and the adventures he and his crew experience as they join Bright Noa and surviving AEUG members for the final stand against Haman Karn and her Neo Zeon. However, I don't like the filler episodes that slow down the plot and how characters like Fa Yuiry and Yazan Gable were treated in this series. From the series as a whole, I can see why it lived up as a weak series, with plot holes and the story not being very well organized, considering CCA was greenlit for production while ZZ was still airing, it appears as if Tomino was concentrating more on CCA's plot and doing random things with ZZ's. Suffice to say, only half the series was good while the other half was either meh or bad.

Inuyasha

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Feb 09, 2018

5.00 (moderate) This is one series where I felt the supporting heroine, Sango should've been the primary heroine. Sango had all the positive character traits that make her primary heroine material. I hate Kagome because I feel her bad character flaws such as her whiny, spoiled, entitled attitude being a major turn-off, goes overboard the flurry of "SIT!" commands she uses on Inuyasha, contradicts herself when she "claims" she understands Inuyasha's feelings for Kikyo, reeks of Mary Sue qualities, overall a poor role model, and the worst heroine Rumiko Takahashi created. I like Kikyo better because she's mature and graceful, plus the bond she shared with Inuyasha made me support her with him more. Naraku is worth hating on because of his crimes against Inuyasha, Kikyo, and Sango. He is also a lame-ass antagonist lacking the wicked charisma of Bleach's Aizen and the threatening danger of YYH's Younger Toguro. Sesshomaru and Rin are one of the few saving graces this anime has, they're characters worth investing in and their bond together is far more heartwarming than that of the main characters.

5.00 (moderate) I could not bring myself to enjoy 7, despite having Max and Milia among the cast, I felt overall the plotline of 7 was rather weak and often the majority of the episodes repeated themselves with the enemy showing up and a battle ensues with Basara singing the same crappy song at each battle. Overall, I wish there had been more done with the much better Plus series rather than 7. The 7 mini movie and Dynamite OVA was crap and I thought both was a waste of cel-ink. The only good things about it besides Max and Milia was their daughter Mylene and the handsome Gamlin Kizaki as well as the impressive looking 90's animation. Otherwise, it was a forgettable series.

5.00 (moderate) I just watched the first series, the Encore OVA, and the second series. S2 surprised me a somewhat, especially with the new heroine Nako being quite endearing and I liked the character development for her. Still the content was cliche and Karinka's role didn't matter that much in S2. I didn't really care for the romance between Nakahito and Kurumi, I think Nako of S2 is better matched with Kurumi, Nakahito looked like more of a little brother figure for Kurumi rather than a love interest. However, Nakahito and Kurumi are a better pair than Kyoshiro and Kuu of Shattered Angels. I think there should've been closure where Kurumi could've said to Saki that she only loves her as a sister (family), it wasn't good for Saki to still have those feelings linger on in Encore. The last Encore episode was too random and not a good way to close out the original series. The OP song is pretty catchy and the animation is pretty good, I disliked the remix version of the song in S2. The animation is pretty good for its' time and has aged well. Overall, this was still an underwhelming series for me though.

5.00 (moderate) I hated the steampunk theme of the anime and the tacked on original characters who don't do anything for me, they were pretty useless to the overall narrative. I feel it should've been a pure historical drama set in the feudal era of the original movie with a similar feel to Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen. I believe when it comes to adapting legendary movies like Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, I think it's important to keep true to the original narrative and themes that were presented. I don't like what they did with Kikuchiyo's character in the anime; like making him a steampunk version of a cyborg and took out the special nuances of Mifune's Kikuchiyo. Also, I think the anime version of Kyuzo lacked the inner warmth that Miyaguchi's Kyuzo portrayed. The music and songs were pretty good though.

5.00 (moderate) Often seen as the anthesis for Cowboy Bebop, I see Trigun as pretty average as far as characters and story go, I made more of a connection to Bebop's characters and I can't understand all the hype Trigun got when the series was considered popular and I think it is rather overrated. If the series had been made in the same fashion as the manga with the mature content included, then I would've liked it.

5.00 (moderate) I have to admit that I'm not fond of this series, I couldn't invest in any of the characters and didn't like how the episodes of the TV series was formatted with going back and forth between story arcs. A similar type of series where you get different flavors of outlaw characters you can invest in and action packed story arcs with a great blend of dark comedy and drama that's much better is Black Lagoon.

Robotech

Last Updated: Sep 18, 2017

5.00 (moderate) I have average feelings about Robotech, while I acknowledge it helped launch the anime boom alongside Starblazers and Speed Racer, I can't help but say that it skewed the concept of Protoculture from its' original meaning from the Macross continuity when it came to the Southern Cross and Mospeada arcs. Also some of the voices were poorly acted and some sounded too old for the characters actual age and the VA of Minmay was so god-awful, she sounded like a banshee when she spoke and sang, hearing her songs re-inforce my belief that Mari Iijima's songs were the best and brought out the best of Minmay. I blame Robotech for ruining Minmay's character reputation and it's sad to see Minmay bashed because how the Robotech series portrayed her. The only thing I prefer in the Robotech-verse over the original is from the Mospeada arc with Lancer's songs, they were great to listen to and his version of "We Will Win" is much better than Minmay's. Also Tony Oliver's performance as Rick Hunter was really good, I wish ADV had gotten him to reprise the role when they dubbed Macross, he was much better than Vic Mignogna as the role.

5.00 (moderate) I understand that there is a manga of the series that tells more of the story from where the anime stopped, but I don't think I want to after what I've read what happens to the characters. I'm glad that Touma manned up at the end and sought out his goals as an individual, but I feel for Urara considering her father lives outside the country due to his work and that she is lonely. I still think the relationship between Touma and Urara was underdeveloped and really didn't give it's time to shine, it spent too much screen-time in the love triangle stuff. All-in-all, the anime itself had wasted potential and this is one of many examples the bad side of older anime is that many adaptations are often left unfinished and used as promotional material for the manga. I wasn't that thrilled with the seiyuu performances either, they were average at best. I question why this series was licensed way back when, especially when much better romance anime shows were available at the time and ignored that are more shelf-worthy, like Mamotte Shugogetten!.

5.00 (moderate) The OVA is clearly promotional material for the VG as most OVA's based off a VG were back in the 90's, it did have an interesting premise though. Noriyasu Yamauchi's artwork for the OVA was pretty with his character designs, I like them better than the original designs. The one thing I hated about the OVA was the recasting of the character roles from the VG, I feel the VG seiyuu cast were better choices for the characters and they should have been used for the OVA if the aim of it was to promote the VG. The worst recasting picks for the OVA were for the characters Rurubell and Juliana; their original seiyuu of the VG, Chisa Yokoyama (Rurubell) and Yumi Touma (Juliana) sound better for the characters and should've been cast for the OVA instead of Hekiru Shiina and Megumi Ogata. Atsuko Tanaka and Masako Katsuki were the only ones of the OVA that did well as Mamamega and Yamimega respectively.

5.00 (moderate) This series turned out pretty average for me; I didn't like the animation of the TV anime and there was too much hack and slash battles going on and a severe lack of strategy on part of the characters when it came to their fight against the Aragami. I would've liked to see more development for Johannes von Schicksal and Paylor Sakaki's characters, especially when it comes to their philosophies that was never fully explored. This series was a little too heavy on the CGI where it looked tacky and overall this series was ufotable's weakest series they've adapted.

5.00 (moderate) This anime was disappointing for me in how it was made; with the lack of exploring the 7 Ghost legend and background stories for characters like Castor and Labrador in how they became friends with Frau, plus how Haruse and Kuroyuri developed their close bond. I felt the anime was too focused on Teito, he was annoying protagonist and didn't really invest in him. I was more invested in Frau and would've liked the anime better if he was the main protagonist. Hakuren was a pretty good and interesting character, I was invested in him as well. The three Sisters and the mermaid girl at the church feel like they're just there to give the series some female characters and the anime didn't do anything to give them a story to develop them. I also disliked Ayanami, he turned out to be a one-dimensional antagonist for me.

4.00 (below average) The second half of the series killed it for me; with Gavlet falling for Daba's Mary-Sue sister instead of Leccee, which I saw potential in. Daba's sister was the worst character of the series, not only was she ugly with that large fore-head of hers, she added unnecessary fuel to the rivalry between Daba and Gavlet. The series would've been better without Daba's sister so Gavlet and Leccee could've hooked up. Also Leccee's defection was wasted because she couldn't handle being in the love triangle, so I think it would've been better if she stayed in the Poseidal Army and have that love/hate thing for Daba, kind of like with Haman for Char in Zeta. The ending sucked and I felt sorry for Amu...she deserved a happy ending after all she did for Daba.

Another thing I don't like about the series is the filler episodes of Chii doing moe things like her adventures in going out to buy underwear for herself and the unnecessary re-cap episodes. The romance between Hideki and Chii wasn't my cup of tea, I liked the romance between Shinbo and Shimizu better. Chii has zero personality and I didn't like her very much. SF legends like Yoshiyuki Tomino and Ryosuke Takahashi would shake their heads in disbelief at such a poor effort. Stuff like Layzner and Turn A Gundam are far better than this. Both Slaine and Inaho were not great characters with Slaine being a walking contradiction and Inaho having a bland personality. I didn't like the ED song either and I wasn't thrilled with how the animation looked either, it would've looked better with ufotable doing the animation production work. This is another work that adds another tsundere role for Rie Kugimiya, so fans of her work especially those who love her portraying tsundere will likely enjoy this movie, although Angela isn't violent or anything...it's just her personality is tsundere. A good thing I can say about this movie is the male lead...he is a likeable character and has a decent and mature personality, which meshed well with Angela.

4.00 (below average) Gonzo did not adapt this series very well and wasted its' potential; for an early 2000's series it hasn't aged well and the work on the animation is quite lazily made and inconsistent. The style of Keiji Gotoh's character designs by this time and for the majority of his future works from this period are a downgrade from how he designed characters from anime he did in the 1990's. This series is definitely at the bottom of the well of Gonzo's animation work. Another issue I have with this anime is the random hijinks combined with the display of showcasing character archetypes at their worst (especially with Azumi) that seem to overshadow the main conflict of the story. The 11th episode is wasted on pointless recap moments; I think it should've been an episode where Ryoko and Shizuma have a real heart-to-heart, see something more than a petty rivalry between them realizing each other's positive qualities, and knowing that there's feelings for one another within. I think the series would have been made better if it had been adapted by OLM for the production by Team Wasaki with Yuriko Chiba's character designs. Although I do think Ryoko is a strong-willed heroine and the song "Blue Weekend" by her seiyuu was a great tune to listen to. The ED song by Miyuki's seiyuu was really good as well with the live action sequence of Sakura Nogawa dressed as Miyuki and Ikue Kimura dressed as Ryoko.

Kotaro has the best chemistry with both Lucia and Akane, either one deserved to be the winning girl considering they're popular in the character rankings. 8-bit and the series' staff wasted the potential of Rewrite by setting their standards low and is certainly the worst adaptation of Key's works to date. I feel Season 2 was hollow with no heart to it and I hated Kotaro in this arc and it cheated the five main girls of their character arcs being explored. Rewrite would've been better hands if it had been made by the same team behind the adaptation of Little Busters! at JC Staff.

The issues I had with this series is a number of things such as the horrible choice in OP & ED songs. Those songs were just plain awful, especially the OP as it was the kind of song you'd hear in a show set in the modern day that's a rom-com, not a historical drama. The drama was badly executed due in part to the series being rushed as hell and having no room to feel anything for its' characters. I think the story of Lady Murasaki was underplayed as well, I think there wasn't much development for her character and feel she should've been the central female lead as this was her story of Genji. I believe Dezaki should've made this back in the 90's after Oniisama e... as conditions were right back then to adapt this complex type of story and cultivate it like a fine wine. Being made in the late 2000's did not serve this series well. Also, I disliked the over-filtering and art direction it had, the overall look of this anime wasn't designed very well because of it.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack

3.00 (poor) Overall, I felt this is an over-hyped movie in how the film depicted the last showdown between rivals Char & Amuro, it was such a disappointment. Also, the presence of new character Quess Paraya was a major turnoff, totally the worst Gundam character ever made. Aside from being an insufferable spoiled brat, she's a Mary Sue and scenes with she and Char together are abysmal and rage inducing. Hathaway Noah reeks of being a Katz Kobayashi expy. Nanai and Chan were the only saving graces as far as new characters in this movie. Overall, never had I seen anything jump the shark so much like CCA.

3.00 (poor) I thought that I was going to like this series because of enjoying Agent Aika as the series was done by the same people behind the series, but that didn't turn out to be the case as I went more into the series. Whereas Aika provided a plot with a central antagonist to act as a foil for Aika, Najica didn't provide that and it was just an episodic series of Najica and her partner Lila retrieving rogue humaritts and that's about it. The storyline for Dr. Ren and her character was under-developed and if she was given a larger role and acted as Najica's foil throughout the series, then perhaps it would've been a better anime, otherwise what was done for her character was vague at best and the last two episodes hardly made sense. I wasn't fond of Najica and Lila's characters really nor their partnership...they weren't as solid as Aika and Rion are as a pair. Lila had no personality either and there wasn't anything interesting about her.

3.00 (poor) Nothing really special about this OVA, the character designs and artwork is poor and the story and characters are mediocre. I don't recommend this anime.

3.00 (poor) This series would've been better if Sora wasn't some rip-off look-alike of Pico of Boku no Pico, it's like they took the character of Pico and made him into a different character and made him into a sis-con with a big breasts fetish. The other thing I hated about it was how Nami and Kana's characters developed in the second OVA, it would've been better to have made them into a full yuri couple, they look like they would make a hot couple. All this series had going for it is the pretty art and I would've liked to have seen the mother find out about Aki and Sora's relationship. Anyone who has seen the 80's hentai OVA series, Cream Lemon with the Ami Nonomura series would understand, considering the fallout of Ami's relationship with her mother after she caught Ami and her brother in the act, and how isolated Ami became from her family.

3.00 (poor) Terrible sequel to the much greater Iczer-One OVA; the main heroine is just annoying as hell and the seiyuu who voiced her was horrible, the so-called villains were appalling and had no appeal to them whatsoever, and overall I feel sorry for Iczers One and Two for being in this OVA.
